This is what I look like when I’m out having fun with my new camera!
As you can probably gather from this picture, photography is one of my favorite hobbies (besides making websites, which should be evident from visiting this web site). Digital photography really caught my attention this past Christmas when I bought my first camera. I loved it and got a lot of use out of it before God saw fit to have the camera wrecked in an accident. I now have a new camera even nicer than the one I started out with, and have learned the important lesson of not setting my affections on earthly possessions.
I am currently going through my first year of accelerated learning through the Verity Education program in Flint, Michigan, where I am studying for a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Technologies. I got my first experience in the computer field working for a year as a tech support rep for the CharacterLink Internet Protection company at the IBLP Headquarters. After a year helping people over the phone, I transferred to the web department where I was partly responsible for updating/maintaining all of the IBLP websites, including iblp.org, atii.org (which we just integrated with students.iblp.org), billgothard.com (which I led a small redesign effort), characterinns.org (the website of the Verity “campus”), characterlink.net, and some other sites as well. I’m a fan of hand-coding to ensure compliance with the latest web standards, so I rely heavily on cascading style sheets (CSS) to lay out the web sites.
The Lord has also blessed me with musical talents. I’ve played the violin since I was three years old, and I continue to play for special occasions. More recently, one of the guys at Headquarters offered to give me trumpet lessons, and I took him up on the offer! I got my own trumpet last summer (2003) and have enjoyed learning to play a brass instrument. Kristina and I have played our violins at the nursing home on Sunday mornings. It’s a great way to minister to the elderly and glorify the Lord with my music!
